MRD1 is a modular system to protect electrical apparatus and it is used for complex applications in
the energy distribution, primarily de-signed for transformer, generator, motor or line protection; ad-dition-ally it can be integrated into automation systems. Due to its modular design, the MRD1 can
be adapted to individual applications without problem, with all implemented functions remaining
combined in one single device. All vacant rack places in the basic unit can optionally be used for
modules according to requirements. The modules provide the necessary measuring inputs e.g. for
two-winding or three-winding transformers as well as increase the number of output re-lays or digi-
tal inputs according to requirements.
The high-performance digital technique of data calculation makes complex mathematical algorithm
for measured value processing possible for the MRD1 as well as utilization of the trip decision re-
sulting from the individual protection functions. The MRD1 software is also of modular structure.
Each protection function is allocated to a special program segment and so it is possible to
subsequently add further functions.
